The Way You Remember Me is an unofficial, nonprofit, fan project celebrating the Roxas and Naminé ship with the theme centering on the idea of soulmates and the red strings of fate that always bind Roxas and Naminé together no matter what world they find themselves in.Volume 1's post-production proceeds were donated to RedRover, a nonprofit organization that aims to help animals and their owners in emergency situations through temporary emergency housing, financial assistance, and emotional support.Thank you for your help in raising $1205.00 for RedRover, and stay tuned for future announcements about Volume 2!

Volume 1 FAQ

Q. What is the theme?
The theme centers on the concept of soulmates and/or the red string of fate that connects Roxas and Naminé in different worlds.Q. Is this zine for-profit or for-charity?
The project is for-charity with the post-production proceeds going to RedRover, a charity that aims to help animals and their owners in crisis through financial assistance, temporary emergency sheltering, and emotional support.Q. Will there be physical merchandise?
Yes! The zine will offer both digital and physical merch, with further details to be announced once preorders go live.Q. How many artists and writers will be participating?
The zine is aiming to have 30-35 artists and 11-13 writers overall.Q. What is the artist-writer collaboration?
Artists and writers will be paired up according to their interests, and a banner will be made for each story.Q. What will I receive as a contributor?
As the project is for-charity, contributors will be compensated with a copy of the zine along with all available merchandise. This is free for all contributors; they do not have to pay for their bundles. Contributor bundles will be covered by zine sales.Q. How will the zine be distributed?
Digital orders will be distributed by emails, while physical orders will be shipped through couriers. Distribution of both digital and physical bundles will be done simultaneously.Q. How much will this zine cost?
The zine will offer varied bundles with corresponding prices which we estimate would go up to $65 for the highest tier bundle.Q. Will there be verification of the donation?
Yes! We will be making the donation and posting the verification once all production and shipping expenses are paid for.Q. Will there be a giveaway?
Yes, there will be! The exact details will be announced along with when preorders go live! Stay tuned!Q. Can I buy a copy of the zine after the preorders finish?
Yes! The zine will open its leftover store once all physical orders have been shipped and our inventory is noted. We won’t be doing a second round of preorders, so make sure you get what you want before we run out! Stay tuned for more info!Q. When will orders ship out?
The zine will start shipping out its physical and digital orders by May or June 2022 barring unforeseen circumstances.

Volume 1 Guidelines

General

Contributor Applications are two separate forms for Artists and Writers. You will need to provide three (3) samples of your art or writing, answer a few quick questions about yourself (email, social media, etc), respond to some zine-related questions, and share what you like about RokuNami. Both forms are one page long, and you should receive copies of your answers when you are finished.This zine is safe for work (SFW), so please make sure your application samples are as well.You are welcome to apply as both an Artist and a Writer, but should you be offered a spot on the zine, it will be for one role only.We will be choosing Merch Artists out of the pool of accepted Artists. Accepted Artists can also sign up for a collaboration with the Writers and illustrate a banner for a story. Collaboration partners will be decided in August 2021.You will need either a Discord account or a frequently-checked email address, as this is how the mods will contact you throughout the project.Contributor Applications open on March 28th, 2021 at 12:00 AM, CST and close on May 14th, 2021 at 11:59 PM, CST.

WRITERS

🧶 On your application, please show us three (3) samples of your stories that are between 1,000 and 5,000 words long eachLinks for these samples can be hosted on AO3, FFN, Google Docs, PillowFort, Tumblr, Wattpad, WordPress, and other text hosting sites🧶 Samples should follow the basic rules of spelling, grammar, and punctuation, indicate a good understanding of plot (which includes flow and setting), and showcase an accurate portrayal of the characters🧶 One (1) or more sample(s) portraying Roxas and Naminé with a romantic nuance is required🧶 Stories that are yet to be published or newly written are also acceptable as a sample🧶 Shorter excerpts of a larger story or a multi-chapter story are acceptable so long as the excerpt is at least 1,000 words and no longer than 5,000 words

Artists

🧶 On your application, please show us three (3) samples of your artLinks for these samples can be from ArtStation, Carrd, DeviantArt, Instagram, Pixiv, Tumblr, Twitter, and other image hosting or portfolio sites🧶 Samples should display a good understanding of anatomy, composition, colors, and creativity🧶 One (1) or more sample(s) depicting two (2) characters in a romantic setting is highly recommended🧶 A complete background is required for at least one (1) of your samples

Hello! I’m Phoenix, and I’m one of the mods on this project. I’ll be a writer as well, and I can't wait to see everyone's pieces!RokuNami means a lot to me, and I've made so many happy memories related to the pairing and its community!My favorite scene has to be when Roxas says to Naminé, "I see myself the way you remember me, and you see yourself the way I remember you" which this very zine is named after. It's just such a powerful scene that says so much about the nature of love and identity, and it always stuck with me.
